I got a truckload of wood from a friends dead maple a decade ago. It was fun to split. But we have 1 or 2 fires/year and the stack is wobbly & ugly, which makes me so impressed by the German stacks (granted, they're using mostly straighter softwood and they all have special saws that cut perfect 1 meter and 1/3 meter lengths).
